Priscilla Jeong's installation, created during Ontopo's Tulum retreat, is a site-specific work that takes the form of three pillowcases, each resembling pages from a catalog on tropical exotic plants. Using rocks, sand, flowers, origami, and other found objects, the installation draws parallels between the US's fascination with tropical exotic plants and the locally sourced "exotic" materials of Mexico. By juxtaposing these elements, Jeong's work explores themes of dislocation, examining the concept of cultural and botanical displacement. The installation embodies both the natural and artificial, blurring lines between curated catalog and local terrain.
