Data Garden

Data Garden, founded by Joe Patitucci and Alex Tyson in 2011, began as a zero-waste record label releasing digital music on plantable artwork. It has since evolved into a leader in data sonification and generative design. Early projects included The Switched-On Garden arts festivals, merging plants, music, and technology. Data Garden also created interactive plant music installations, including a notable piece at The Philadelphia Museum of Art. The collective continues to explore the intersection of nature, technology, and sound in their work.

Recent. Data Garden's plant-biofeedback work evolved from MIDI Sprout into PlantWave (2019– ), a wireless device that translates plants' electrical signals into music, now sold worldwide and covered by NPR, Wired, and The Guardian.
