Brian DeGraw (b. 1974) is a visual artist and musician based in New York, with a studio in Woodstock. A founding member and keyboardist of the band Gang Gang Dance, he also records solo as bEEdEEgEE, and his art practice spans drawing, painting, video, sculpture, and installation. He is represented by James Fuentes Gallery.
Approach. DeGraw treats visual art and experimental music as one continuous practice — his early gallery show was titled Behead the Genre — moving fluidly between the two and recording his solo electronic music largely alone at his Woodstock studio.
Selected. Gang Gang Dance's Eye Contact (4AD, 2011) and Saint Dymphna (2008); the solo album SUM/ONE (4AD, 2013); inclusion in the 2008 Whitney Biennial and MoMA's Judson Dance Theater (2018); solo shows at James Fuentes (SP555, 2024; Gamma, 2022).
